Why Does My iPhone Mail Not Update and How to fix it?

I have been experiencing a problem in which iphone mail not updating, and I am getting irritable to miss significant emails. I think it might be a problem in communication between the syncing or servers. I have even attempted to refresh the app though that does not always succeed. Did anyone experience a lack of iphone mail update in the past? What were some of your fast-temporary solutions or environment that helped you overcome this problem?
