HIMS generally refers to a Hospital Information Management System, while hospital management system is a broader term commonly used for digital tools that manage hospital operations. In practice, the terms are often used interchangeably. Both can include modules such as EMR/EHR, appointments, billing, pharmacy, laboratory, inventory, and reporting.
