Need advice on renting a car in Malta

My wife and I just came across a super cheap tour to Malta and bought it right away for our upcoming trip. We actually have totally opposite preferences when it comes to relaxing. She loves to just lay on the sand and get a tan all day. I prefer to check out historical spots and explore local architecture. Malta seems perfectly balanced to give us both exactly what we want. The trick is we need a vehicle to quickly hop from the beach straight to those cool locations. Where's the best place to rent one out there?

The island is pretty compact, so driving along the coast takes very little time. The streets can get a bit narrow in the older historic towns. Picking a smaller hatchback is usually a smart move for navigating those tight corners. Keep in mind they drive on the left side of the road over there since it's a former British colony. You can look into local rental agencies right around the main tourist hubs like St. Julian's or Sliema.
