How many subjects does BCA actually have?

I get asked this a lot, so sharing what I've found after digging into a few university curriculums.

Most BCA programs run 30 to 36 subjects total, spread across six semesters (roughly 5-6 subjects per semester). First year is mostly foundation stuff — programming basics, computer fundamentals, maths. Second year gets into the real core: data structures, DBMS, OOP, operating systems. Third year is where it gets interesting, with electives like AI, cloud computing, or cybersecurity plus a final year project.

The exact count varies a bit by university since some count lab sessions separately and others bundle them with the theory subject. So don't stress too much over an exact number — focus more on whether the curriculum covers the fundamentals well plus at least one specialization that interests you.

If you want a proper semester-wise breakdown, I found this guide pretty detailed:  How Many Subjects in BCA
