The Everest Base Camp trek is a walk of about 14 days in Nepal's Khumbu region, ending at 5,364 m at the foot of Everest. Most people fly from Kathmandu to Lukla and walk up through Sherpa villages like Namche Bazaar and Dingboche, sleeping in simple teahouses. The round trip is roughly 130 km. The trail is not technical, but the altitude is hard, so the itinerary includes rest days to adjust. Everest can't be seen from Base Camp itself, which is why many trekkers also climb Kala Patthar (5,545 m). Spring and autumn are the usual seasons.
